Brett is a Northshore local and received his B.A. in English from the University of New Orleans. Prior to law school, Brett served as a law enforcement officer and worked in major motion picture film production in California.
Education & Legal Background
Brett received his Juris Doctor from Ave Maria School of Law in Naples, FL, with a concentration in Natural Law and Catholic Legal Studies. At Ave Maria School of Law, Brett explored the nuances of Catholic theology and the law, specifically researching Saint Pope John Paul II’s philosophy on human ecology. Brett also served as a senior editor for the Ave Maria Law Review, and, during a clerkship at UCLA Law School’s Tribal Law Legal Development Clinic, he sharpened his legal skills by advocating for the rights of Indigenous communities. With these experiences, an externship at the United States Conference of Catholic Bishops, and the mentorship of respected Catholic attorneys and law professors, Brett believed he would find a meaningful career in Estate Planning.
After graduating from Ave Maria, Brett obtained his Master of Laws (LL.M.) in Agricultural and Food Law at the University of Arkansas School of Law, where he studied land tenure and federal agricultural policy and farm programs, crop insurance, and farm financing. He served the University of Arkansas as a graduate teaching and research assistant. During this time, he became concerned for the estates of farmers nationwide and how to help them protect their assets in the best way.
Most recently, in Spring 2025, Brett earned an Academic Certificate in “Heirs’ Property” from the Southern University Law Center’s Office of Innovation and Strategic Partnerships and Initiatives / Agricultural Law Institute for Underrepresented and Underserved Communities (Heirs’ Property Institute) in Baton Rouge, LA.
Legal Experience & Specialties
In addition to two publications in the Ave Maria Law Review, Brett is also published in the Catholic Social Science Review. Before joining Morrison Law Group, PLC, Brett worked in legal ethics and cut his teeth as a litigation attorney, handling termite damage disputes, hurricane property damage disputes, and construction contract disputes.

Brett strongly believes in continuing education in estate and trusts and regularly attends trainings with the American Academy of Estate Planning Attorneys (AAEPA). Brett is a member of the AAEPA, the Society of Catholic Social Scientists, the St. Tammany Bar Association, the Louisiana State Bar Association, the St. Thomas More Catholic Lawyers’ Association of New Orleans, and the Knights of Columbus at St. Peter Parish in Covington, LA.
